It's About Finding Ways to Engage with Members
From Twitter to Facebook to YouTube to the newest Blog or Community, social media is all the buzz - and all about the buzz!
As we have developed our expertise in the various social media opportunities, the first thing that we discuss with clients is strategy. Because social media is very time intensive and requires more interaction with your organization, it is important to decide how to get involved online with members.
Some benefits for using social media, online engagement tools and networks include:
- Building brand awareness (increased visibility)
- Developing and strengthens member relationships
- Attracting new members
- Helping you be perceived as a financial resource
- Driving more traffic to your site
Online opportunities include being interactive to spark new product ideas, gather comments from members for competitive intelligence, spread the good word as a thought leader, look for leads, provide customer/member support, or to simply humanize the organization. The key is to first establish what the goal is to set the best strategic path.
Once your strategy and goal for social engagement is established, LemmonTree will work with you to develop the right social media strategy for your needs.
A Few Examples
Social Media Site
GetAZMoving.org is a site developed for Arizona Central Credit Union to provide a resource for members and prospective members to network, talk about the economy, and view financial solutions. The site has an interactive blog (Get Talking), partner company link (Get Connected), resource center (Get Answers) and information on special offers at Arizona Central (Get Info).
Blogging Site
To build brand awareness and strengthen the relationship with members, we developed a blog for client, Jefferson County Employees Credit Union (JCECU). My Money & JCE offers money management tips and news about the Credit Union to members for the purpose of helping them make financial success a reality!
“This is an absolutely great and timely tool for listening to and communicating with our members; excellent work by you and the LemmonTree staff!” commented Charles Faulkner, JCECU President/CEO.
Member Engagement
As part of the International Credit Union Day celebration, a member contest, “What I Love About Oak Trust,” was created to capture member testimonials. The contest was launched the week before International Credit Union Day using only a web banner and landing page with an entry form on the website as well as a form in branches to fill out.
Surprisingly, 150 member comments/entries were received from the website, with 25 coming in the first day it was live on the site! With little promotion, the credit union gained great testimonials. LemmonTree managed the contest entries and web logistics.
“This was a small test of member engagement for our client and it showed the credit union team that online connection is valuable,” commented Nicolette Lemmon, President.
Socializing Your Site
"Ask Charlie" is a way for members to send their questions on an e-mail form to the CEO. We created it for Jefferson County Employees Credit Union (JCECU) where members can personally email Charlie Faulkner, President/CEO of JCECU their financial questions.
Result? Within two weeks over 20 emails had been received and answered! Plus, we added some past questions and answers that members have sent Charlie, to a page on the Credit Union's blog, My Money & JCE.
