Credit Union Marketing University

Offered twice a year, Credit Union Marketing University (CUMU) is a week-long course with two tracks of learning designed specifically for marketing professionals

Track I - Strategic Marketing Planning for Increasing Credit Union ROA
  • Focuses on the understanding of the strategic marketing planning and is a requirement for attending Track Two.
Track II - Managing Marketing Performance to Enhance Credit Union Performance & ROA
  • Drills down to the implementation aspects of a marketing plan and the development of effective marketing promotions with an emphasis on the impact on Asset Liability Management.

Each track is a hands-on, academic program (not a conference with speakers) that helps marketing professionals or senior managers responsible for marketing learn how to:

  • Build a true strategic marketing plan that supports the credit union's strategic plan and annual goals
  • Determine the number of products needed to recover the marketing costs of a promotion (break-even) as well as the return on investment (ROI) of marketing dollars when the promotion is completed
  • Prepare a well-thought out marketing promotion, with strategic rationale, that encompasses the theme, timeline, promotion elements, and the estimated number of accounts to recover the marketing expenditure
  • Present a marketing plan to the senior management team with the confidence that they will support it because of its strategic perspective, member orientation, and use of financial models to explain and project costs and anticipated returns
